Using BarDIMM Pro from Windows

Calling conversion to barcode from Windows applications

Patent Pending

BarDIMM Pro barcodes can easily be invoked from most common Windows applications. BarDIMM Pro uses a very innovative system to activate conversion to barcodes in the printers. There is no license to buy per user, no software to install on client PCs or server.

The following usage example is performed under Office 2003 and Windows XP and after having installed some BDTTGen (BarDIMM Pro TrueType fonts) activation fonts for EAN13, Code 39, 25 Interleaved, PDF417 and the hp laserjet 4350 driver.

Note: The printer must be equipped with a BarDIMM Pro or addressed by BarDIMM Box or BarSTORM to print the barcodes.

Examples could have been done with other applications and with data produced by dynamic calculation formulas (i.e. from a spreadsheet like Excel or database application like MS-Access).

BDTTGen fonts are listed at the beginning of the font list and are easily identifiable in the font menu thanks to the barcode symbol at the beginning of their name.

Barcoding a simple string

Create a new Word document, and type in the following text:

This is some barcoded data:
12345678

Then barcode 12345678 in Code 39 by simply highlighting it and applying the 39 BDTT font to it. The text font changes to a more symbolic font that can still be read (data is not barcoded on screen):

Print the document on a printer equipped with BarDIMM technology.

When the document is output, you get a perfect barcode:

Barcoding a table

Tables can be easily barcoded with BarDIMM Pro BDTT fonts. Just create a multi-line/multi-row table in Word, then apply a BDTT font to columns and/or rows.

Here is a 3 columns, 5 rows table with 3 bar codes. For each of the last 4 lines we have applied a different BDTT font size: 12, 18, 24 and 28.

and here is the result output by the printer equipped with BarDIMM technology:

Barcoding a text box with a 2D barcode

A text box can also be use to easily barcode any data with BarDIMM Pro BDTT fonts. It is especially useful to encode multi-line text into a single 2D barcode like Data Matrix of PDF417.

Just create a text box using Insert/Text Box, enter data in it then apply a 2D barcode BDTTGen font such as PDF417:

and here is the result output by the printer equipped with BarDIMM technology:

Calling PCL macros and overlays

BarDIMM Pro special TrueType fonts also allow you to call/execute PCL macros (which can include signatures, letterhead, pictures...) and activate/stop macro Overlay by simply picking the right TrueType font and typing the macro number.

Barcoding from Windows: with BarDIMM, a no brainer with no license to pay per PC!

As you can see, barcoding from Windows applications has never been so easy. It is also very fast and safe as barcodes are calculated, verified and generated at the last minute and with the highest quality inside the printer.

With BarDIMM Box, BarSTORM or BarDIMM Pro, you can work smarter and gain productivity by better managing information thanks to barcodes.
